- Fiestas are all about color and fun! One easy way to bring lots of bold color into the party design is to use traditional Mexican paper banners called papel picados. They can be hung outdoors or indoors and come in a rainbow of colors. Here I have also trimmed a paper banner from the string and used it as a placemat. Papel picados are all hand crafted by artisans in Mexico and they can even be customized to your event.
- The mini burro piñata brings festive color to the table setting. Yes, even this little guy can be filled with treats and easily turns into each guest's party favor.
- Cupcakes are all the rage. Here they will be displayed on a galvanized tiered tray and sprinkled with fringe (colored coconut). Inspired by the tissue paper fringe on the piñata, this gives them texture and color.
- The invitation is the starting point for any party. It sets the tone and announces the event. The party design was inspired by this charming invitation. Papel picados decorate the top of the invite, with a fringe banner accent. A burro piñata is the centerpiece for the invitation. These invitations are great because you can even print them at home!
- What's a fiesta without margaritas? Use fresh limes and lemons to garnish the drink.
- Use an agave plant as a centerpiece and pay homage to the harvested tequila. Succulents or any fresh plant can be a great centerpiece. After the party, they bring continued beauty to your home or yard.
- Tissue paper flowers are great color accent. They come in a variety of sizes and colors and can be customized to the colors of your choice!
- Mini maracas accent the margarita drink sign. Jazz up the buffet table with small signs describing the food. They are an easy way to add to the decor and details of the tabletop.
- Corn husk votives bring a soft candlelit glow to the table and are inspired by the traditional Mexican tamale. They are easy to make and once your fiesta party is finished, you can always turn them back into traditional glass votives by taking off the corn husks and removing the hot glue.
- What you'll need to make the corn husk votives:
- Votive candle holder
- Votive Candle
- Hot Glue Gun
- Corn Husk
- Tie
